Lin & Lin Gallery is pleased to present the solo exhibition Floating World by contemporary Japanese artist Yuki Sakuta in April. Sakuta’s artworks are based on things that remain in her mind, such as fairy tales, myths, novels, and music she heard a long time ago. For this exhibition, the artist drew inspiration from Gabriel García Márquez’s novel (One Hundred Years of Solitude), and the short story (La hojarasca). She picked up the detailed realism and fantasy sentences, obscure words, and the personality of the characters in the stories, and expressed mental landscape of the people, or scenery that they might have seen in abstract silhouettes of trees and flowers.
